  • Overview



    The Inside Residential Loan Officer will be responsible for monitoring and receiving mortgage loan applications originated via the banks online origination system. The Residential Loan Officer is responsible for reviewing applications, educating customers on various mortgage products and the process from application to loan closings. The Residential Loan Officer will work with the mortgage lending team through the loan underwriting and closing process, following up with clients on any loan qualification or documentation issues.




    Performs any functions necessary, within scope of authority and expertise, to provide the highest level of service and responsiveness to customers.


    • Communicate professionally and clearly to customers  and respond to borrower inquiries in a timely manner
    • Review initial loan application for completeness and ensure loan applications meet the required disclosure timeframes
    • Contact online borrowers to confirm receipt of application, discuss loan request and review loan process from application to closing
    • Ensure all required loan documentation is obtained from borrower within required timeframes
    • Submit completed loan applications to mortgage processing department and act as the primary contact for the bank’s loan processors  and underwriters
    • Provide accurate and timely updates to borrower on the status of their loan request
    • Strong working knowledge of Fannie Mae mortgage underwriting guidelines as well as various other mortgage products i.e. FHA, Rhode Island Housing, Construction loans, etc.
    • As needed, assist borrowers with the submission of their online application
    • Maintain timely and accurate loan files and document status updates accordingly
    • Comply with all Federal and State compliance policies and HMDA requirements.





    1. Successful candidate must meet and comply with all requirements set forth in the SAFE Act, including, but not limited to successful completion of the required background checks and obtaining a Unique Identifier from the NMLS.
    2. Performs related and unrelated duties as may be needed.




    Minimum of three years of mortgage origination/ inside sales experience and proven sales ability. Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent in specialized course work and training.  Demonstrated knowledge of mortgage lending functions involving financial statement analysis, credit risk, installment lending, and general business finance.  Working knowledge of all Bank’s products and services. Must possess strong time management skills.  Excellent communications, negotiation and organization skills. Ability to achieve sales goals and performance metrics. Maintain accurate and complete loan documentation files. High-level of organizational skills. Proficient in computer-based programs including Encompass Loan System. Perform duties with minimum supervision using good judgment with the ability to display and possess a high degree of professionalism in all business contacts in accordance with established department rules and procedures. Work cooperatively with mortgage team members in the performance of job duties.








    Establishes own work plan and performs work independently within scope of established guidelines and practices.  Generally refers specific problems to manager where clarification of policies and procedures is needed.
