Responsible for working with Business Developer Officers, Commercial Lenders, Branch Managers, and Residential Mortgage Originators in the Bank’s market area to assist them in achieving Bank sales & business development goals. The focus will be on growing market share and ensuring that BankNewport maintains a strong local community presence. Responsible for establishing and maintaining excellent customer relations.

Responsibilities

Performs any functions necessary, within scope of authority and expertise, to provide the highest level of service and responsiveness to customers.

 

All managers of BankNewport are expected to support Bank wide efforts designed to understand, measure, monitor, reduce, control, and report risk in the most efficient and cost-effective manner. Risk management includes but is not limited to compliance risk, credit risk, liquidity risk, market risk, operations risk, and systems risk as well as attention to physical building safety and security.

  • Prospects, cultivates, and develops new commercial and small business relationships in the Bank’s market area through the development of internal and external referral sources and existing COI network.
  • Management of a portfolio of Business and Commercial clients, review and renew existing credit facilities, and test financial covenants when applicable.
  • Collaborate with Business Banking Group, Commercial Lenders, and branch personnel to close and onboard new relationships with the bank.
  • Attend all Commercial huddle meetings, loan committee meetings, and regional business development initiative meetings.
  • Coordinates sales calls with existing commercial and business clients to assist in meeting business development goals. Expand existing client relationships through the cross-selling of additional products and services.
  • Responsible for reviewing monthly sales goal results with the Business Banking Manager. Review strategies to be implemented to achieve sales goals. Assist Manager in efforts to develop a strong commercial cross-selling environment.
  • Assists in building strong referral relationships between Mortgage Originators, Commercial Lenders, OPIA producers, and Branch staff. Represent Business Banking Group in interactions with other departments and vendors.
  • Maintains and promotes active participation in bank and community affairs.

 

OTHER ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs related and unrelated duties as may be required.

 

SUPERVISORY SCOPE:

No supervisory responsibility

 

LENDING AUTHORITY:

The VP/ Business and Commercial Lending Officer will not have lending authority but will be able to close commercial loans that have the appropriate approval by management.

 

INDEPENDENT ACTION:

Establishes short-range plans and objectives within scope of Bank-wide policies and goals. Consults with manager regarding policy interpretation or exceptions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent plus a minimum of five years experience in sales, service, lending, and business development endeavors.
  • Individual must possess excellent customer service, negotiation, analytical, decision-making, networking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Previous experience with Business and Commercial Lending is a plus.
